Latest News on Combat Wounded Care Residences
We’re thrilled to share that the groundbreaking ceremony for Dunham House took place recently, marking the start of an important chapter for combat-wounded veterans in Omaha. This project, in honor of Corporal Jason Dunham, aims to provide long-term residential-centered care for veterans who have faced similar challenges.
KETV Omaha covered this milestone event, highlighting the impact and significance of our mission. The facility will feature 30 assisted living-style apartments and community-focused spaces, offering specialized care for veterans with greater physical needs.
Colonel John Folsom expressed hope that Dunham House will inspire similar initiatives across the country, emphasizing the powerful bond veterans share through their experiences. Former Omaha mayor Hal Daub also underscored the potential for expansion on the site to accommodate more veterans in the future.
Kate McCauley, CEO and President of Wounded Warriors Family Support, noted the pressing need for such a facility as veterans face changes in their caregiving situations. The development has been funded without federal assistance, with plans for the first residents to move in by August 2026.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build a supportive community for our veterans. Thank you for your ongoing support.
